disk is full, google chrome trouble shooting

i am trying to free up space on my MacBook air. I tried deleting everything in the trash but it is not deleting for some reason. Also, google chrome was working this morning, i tried restarting my computer and when i tried opening google chrome again, it would not open.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.14

If your disk is full, all sorts of things can go wrong. You need to delete files (or move them to external storage), it makes sense to start with larger files first (e.g. movies). Personally, I use the free Disk Inventory X to see what's taking up space, there are also apps on the Mac App Store that offer similar features, such as DiskSight and Diskopolis.
