Hi, welcome to the Apple Users Community.

Go to the Apple Logo top left of the screen and then hit "About This Mac" in the splash window that shows up click on the Memory Tab and it will tell you what you need to know.

As I understand from EveryMac.com you need: PC4-17000 DDR4*Min. RAM Speed:2133 MHz but please confirm that is as above.

Best of luck

If you go to either MacSales.com or Crucial.com you can find your Mac model and get the correct RAM for it. Those are the only two sources for RAM that I will use. They test each module type in the Mac it's designed for and guarantee it will work. They also have great customer support and warranties.

You can also find out what RAM to use via the  ➙ About This Mac…/Memory info pane.

2017 iMacs use DDR4. So yes regardless of speed or size, if its DDR4 it will work. The RAM type (DDR4, DDR3 etc..) is what determines the "pin layout".

Not the speed or size.

Also make sure you get RAM from a reputable vendor such as mac sales or Crucial. Macs are picky about RAM.

Also, be aware RAM upgrades on a 21.5" iMac require complete disassembly of the screen to get to the RAM. They do not have an easily accessible slot on the back.
