How to copy file path from the Finder "Save As" dialogue box?

How to copy file path from Finder "Save As" dialogue box when saving a newly created document (Word, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)?

For example, the problem is I create a new file in Illustrator and then save to specific folder. I then need to upload that file to Dropbox. I have multiple folders within folders depending on what project I'm working on and the files need to be saved to the corresponding folder.

When "Saving As", I can hit the dropdown and it shows the path to the folder where I'm saving. I need to copy this file path so I can go to finder, and paste it into the "Go To Folder" after pressing CMD+****+G, or just pasting into the file directory in a Finder window.

My recents don't show the folder or anything close to the destination folder I just saved the file to. I have many folders divided into multiple categories and date so creating an alias doesn't work.

Dragging the folder into the Save As dialog would work, but I would then have to navigate to that folder and drag that into the dialog which would defeat the purpose of saving time. This is super easy to do on a PC and saves tons of time and makes everything more streamlined and accurate for designers.

Thanks for the reply. However, this does not work when trying to copy the path in "Saving As" dialogue box. It works in a regular finder window, but then I would have to go through the folder tree to find my folder, copy it, and then paste it into the "Save As" box. I'm trying to avoid the last step all together.

I just want to copy the path that shows when saving a new file. Then paste that path into a new Finder window.

Oops! Sorry. No, that won't work. All you can do in a "Save As" (or "Save") box is select a name, which will automatically fill the top name field as the name you want to save something as. I don't see a way to do what you want at all from such a dialogue box.

What I mentioned works from the Finder (desktop). You'd have to navigate to the item, then highlight and copy the path name.

Thank you! I think this works. I created a shortcut key in the settings so when saving, I just find my folder, enter my shortcut keys, open new Finder window and paste vie "Got to Path" or Cmd+Shift G.

I downloaded the trial version and will see how it goes when I have more projects to work on. It's just ridiculous that Apple doesn't have a direct way of doing this since Windows has had this for years.

Thanks again!
