PowerChute network shutdown on iMac

I have unsuccesfully tried to install PowerChute network shutdown for Apc UPS on iMac. PowerChute network shutdown is reported to be compatible with Mac OS X Server 10.6.2 while the iMac has OS X 10.6.2, which is potentially different.
After some investigation I have found at least a majour problem: all the shell scripts which are installed contain carriage returns, showed as ^m, and it is a known issue they cannot work till carriage return are not removed. I seriously doubt OS X Server and OS X for iMac differ in the way they deal carriage returns into script files, so I cannot see how PowerChute network shutdown can work with the Mac OS X Server 10.6.2. Anyone has tried this APC product with Apple computers ? And with iMac ? Do I have to correct all script files if I want a chance to make it work ?

Thanks
Filippo

I don't know about the Server product, but the version of APC's +Power Chute+ software that used to come with their smaller systems hasn't been compatible with OSX since either Panther or Tiger (I forget which).

Their "Business Edition" system requirements don't show Macs at all: http://www.APCGuard.com/PowerChute.asp

The non-server version of OSX has UPS support built-in. See: Using a U.P.S. System with a Mac.
