Example: The prefix of the file sequence is: "13 -", "14 -", etc. I'd like to replace these with "1. ", "2. ", etc. Most renaming functions I've seen don't take into account a changing prefix (numeric, ascending); or they don't allow you to strip the first 4 characters out (using wildcards, for ex.) and start numbering from there while keeping the same file order. (At least, not in Automator or in the finder's rename function). There must be a way; I just haven't found it. Tips appreciated. Thanks.

Renaming Files in Finder I have a large number of files that need to be properly alphabetized. Many of them have varying numbers at the beginning of the file name, from 3 to 5 characters including spaces and dashes. Aside from renaming each one manually, is there a way to code something to do it more quickly?

Save files without overwriting setting? Dear hive mind: Is there a setting where if I save a file with the same name in the same folder it will NOT overwrite but instead add a number? i.e.: Saved_file; Saved_file_01; Saved_file_02.... MacBook Air, 2022, Monterey 12.4 Thanks!

can you clarify what you mean by "a numbers folder"?

Numbers doesn't have folders itself, that would be finder where your files and folders are listed.
