received a call saying my account has been compromised.

The message said I could call toll free number . Is this really the apple support number?

Apple doesn’t call, unless you requested a callback.

Calling numbers can be spoofed/faked/forged, too.

Same as “sending” email addresses can be faked.

Scam calls are common, and fodder for many discussions around here.
