Hi, Jane,

That's just the way the software is designed. iMovie exports everything as Mp4 at all settings other than Best Quality (pro res). At Best Quality (pro res) iMovie exports a .mov file that is higher in quality but also is 4x the file size of Mp4. Mp4 is a very popular high quality delivery format that is compatible with a wide array of devices and applications.
