Deleting a file

How do I delete a desktop file that refuses to be deleted from my MacBook Pro desktop?

It would be helpful if you could be more specific as to what you tried to do, but were unable to. Are you saying that you are unable to drag it to the trash? If so, I suggest restarting your computer is the Safe Mode (Hold down the Shift key on startup) and try again. That often fixes this things. I hope that works for you.
