sound when talking

People are complaining that they can't hear me when we are talking on my iphone 8+ OS 13.6.1 Also it's not so clear/a little fuzzy for me to hear them. This has been going on for a while. No problem hearing my ring when someone calls or listening to a podcast or youtube or something like that. Just when talking with someone.

Is there some sort of damage to my iphone? Is there somewhere [ app ] to adjust the sound?

Is it possible it's the other person's mobile? But it's been more than one person this has occurred.
