we have the family plan but everyone wants their own music - right now it all gets shared and is confusing

When sharing purchases and subscriptions using Family Sharing, each family member should use their own unique Apple ID. This way, you'll all have access to shared content, without mixing up your Apple Music libraries, and other content such as iMessages, FaceTime calls, etc.
