Try setting up another admin user account in System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if the same problem continues. Also try the Safe Mode.
Isolating an issue by using another user account

Do you have access to another WiFi network where you can try? That has worked for several people.
Try a restart.
Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Do a backup and try a factory reset. Then restore from your backup.

I have asked apple for help as this started happening immediately on my new macbook pro when purchased a year ago. I've gotten nowhere so far. I cannot search for apps... apps I KNOW are on the app store just say no results found. I am exasperated. No... making another account or other suggestions, by the other person who responded, have not worked.
I am trying to change my password. The message is unknown error has occurred.
