mail on ipad ignoring my “default email account” setting

it sends from my icloud account, despite having been very clearly set to send from my personal mail server in the preferences. also not function properly, the “cc:/bcc:” field has been set to “off” but still shows up when composing a new email (this is how i discovered mail was sending from the wrong account).

tired that. not a solution that worked. (ps, this is an ipad, not a phone). here’s what i had to do to fix it:

mail is attempting to use the last active email address in my contact to send from. i have several email addresses. so to get it to default back to my preferred address, i have to send an email to that address, from that address. as long as the last email i’ve gotten is from my preferred address, it’s fine. otherwise, it wants to use the last one that to which email was sent. it’s clearly an attempt to be helpful, but there’s a logic trap that it fails.

this doesn’t happen on the iphone. just the ipad. dunno why.

Hello faerie king,

We understand that you are having trouble setting your personal mail server as the default account for email on your iPad. You’re in the right place, we’d be glad to assist in seeking a solution.

Are you able to currently send an email at all from your personal mail server on your iPad?

If so, let's force close the Mail app, restart your iPhone, and try sending an email again to see if it uses your personal mail server to send.

Just in case, here is How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Let us know if that helps.

Have a great day.
