Can't adjust screen saver start

In System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver, on the Screen Saver tab, the Start after: selector is greyed out. How can I change the screen saver start time?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Hi pwfisher,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. Sounds like you're not able to adjust your Screen Saver tab in System Preferences. We'd like to help.

Are you an Administrator on your Mac? If you are, you're able to Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac. Do you use Use Screen Time on your Mac to set restrictions? Check to see if you have access to System Preferences there. If set, you may need to change those settings to be able to change your Screen Saver preferences.

Hope that helps!
