Bluetooth connection issues with FaceTime

Hello,

I have been having a lot of problems with connecting Bluetooth headphone to my MacBook Pro.

The headphones pair well and work well when watching/listening to a movie/music however, when I answer a call with FaceTime the sound plays out of the MacBook instead of the headphones. This has happened on numerous occasions with Apple EarPods Pro and just some normal cheaper headphones from amazon.

I have tried all troubleshooting steps

including resetting the headphones, checking the output and input in the sound menu etc

and still have not managed to solve the issue. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could provide some insight into this issue.

Thank you!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Hi vanisha28,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. If we understand, you're having an issue with the audio coming from the built-in speakers instead of headphones during FaceTime calls. We can help with that! During your troubleshooting when you checked the sound settings, was that from System Preferences or from the Video menu in the FaceTime app itself? The Video menu in the FaceTime app has a setting for Output. What do you have selected there? The following guide has more details on those settings: Choose a camera or microphone for FaceTime calls on Mac

If those settings are correct, let's see what happens in another user account. This will help to know if the issue happens over your entire Mac, or just your user account. Here's a guide on creating a new user account, just in case: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Cheers!
