Mail app using too much energy on MacBook Pro

The Mail app on my MacBook Pro has started using >100 on the Energy Impact analysis in the Activity Monitor program every single time I load it to check my email. It causes the fan to run non-stop. When I close the Mail app, then the problem goes away. This just started when I added a 4th mail account, my second Microsoft account. I erased that account to see if that would fix the problem, it did not. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this problem.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.15

  2. Reset NVRAM/PRAM by following the directions applicable to your MacBook here ➔ How to Reset NVRAM/PRAM. If that does not solve things then-
  3. Enter ➔ Safe Mode and see if the mail/fan issue still exists in Safe mode. Log out of Safe Mode and then reboot computer. If that does not solve things then-
  4. Finally if none of the above works then you can enter ➔ macOS Recovery Mode and reinstall the macOS and see if that solves it.
