Unable to Update to iOS 13.6.1

I plugged my iPhone 6S Plus (though for unknown reasons it still think it's a 4S) into my computer to update to iOS 13.6.1 and when I tried to update the iOS, I was informed that I need 807.5MB of free space. I have 2.16GB of available space: my iPhone says so; when I synced my phone, the sync bar said so; and the top of the Update window says so. Why can't I update my iPhone? (I have to update from my computer because if I tried to download and install on my iPhone, I will no longer have enough space to actually install the update after I download it even though I have deleted or offloaded every unneeded app.)

Thank you but none of the issues listed in either article fits my issue. As I indicated, I have 2.1GB available space on my iPhone; however, I cannot download the update on my iPhone because it will take up so much space that I won't have enough free space to install the software (at least that was my experience earlier this year and Apple support instructed me update the iPhone software from my computer). I have offloaded or deleted EVERY app that I do not need, so there is nothing more for me to offload or delete. That said, the message isn't clear whether it's actual space or some other issue as it mentions changing my sync settings. I'm not exactly sure what it means but I know that it syncs EXACTLY how I want it to.

Here is the error message I was getting:

"Updating to iOS 13.6.1 requires at least 807.5 MB of free space on your iPhone. Please change your media sync options to make more storage available." So it mentions I don't have enough free space but 2.1GB is definitely more than 807.5MB; however, it then it mentions media sync options so I'm not sure what the real issue is, just that I cannot install the update.

Hi ebethkirby,

Thanks for clarifying. We suggest backing up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer, then restoring the device. The restore will erase your data and update to the latest available iOS. After the restore is complete, you can restore your data back onto your device.

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

Hope this helps.

Best regards.
