Apple Pay is sending incorrect credit card expiry date

When I try to use Apple Pay on my iPhone at a merchant terminal, the transaction is declined. I can tap my credit card and the transaction is approved. I have talked to my bank, and they say Apple Pay is sending a credit card expiry date dated 2027 that does not match my card expiry date of 2023, which triggers the decline. I have removed the card from my Apple devices and re-loaded them, yet the problem continues. There is no doubt the card is entered correctly on iPhone and in Safari auto-fill. Has anyone experienced this?
