Join tracks is achieved at import-from-CD time. You cannot join tracks after importation.

To join existing tracks, you would need an audio editor (such as Audacity), to edit them together and then add the joined track to your iTunes Library. Unless you are already familiar with Audacity, I would not recommend it to you as there is a considerable learning curve to go through to get the best results. The same applies for other audio editors.

If you have a CD copy of the audiobook, I suggest re-importing from that, it will be quicker and easier. If you require help with this, let us know.

Remember playback position is simple:

    • highlight the track or tracks (yes, you can batch-set set tracks)
    • on iTunes' top bar menu, select Edit / Get Info (and yes, you do want to edit multiple items)
    • on the panel that opens up, switch from the Details tab to the Options tab
    • click in the box named Remember playback position

That's Edit / Get Info / Options > playback: Remember playback position
