Take note of the point tt2 has made, that reinforces what I've already mentioned.

Ok Sorry for the confusion and typo I found that the sequetial order was wrong so I re orderd thr sequence.

You cannot do what you want - you must click on the number column header in order that the arrow in that column is facing up. There are no exceptions, you cannot "re-order the sequence" .

Here's a suggestion; follow the steps below and tell us which step fails to do what is stated:

    1. look at the CD track list in the Import CD window - look at the left column of the list of tracks and make sure the arrow is in the left column's header and facing upwards.
      1. if the arrow is not in this column, click the column's header to put it there
      2. if the arrow is not pointing upwards, click the same header again to reverse the arrow. Is the arrow present and facing upwards?
    2. select two or more consecutive tracks, as shown in my previous screenshots. They must be consecutive - no exceptions. Do the tracks turn blue (i.e.they are now highlighted/selected, yes or no?)
    3. click on the Settings icon (the "gear wheel" icon) that is located between the Import CD button and the Eject CD button. Does the context menu appear?
      1. if you have selected consecutive tracks, the menu list will be:
      • Get Track Names
      • Submit CD Track Names...
      • Join CD Tracks

If at any point the result is different to the list above, please state which point (i.e. 1.2. if the arrow is not pointing upwards...) and state what did happen instead. If possible, post a screenshot.

Join Tracks only appears when you are in the Import CD window and once you have selected adjacent tracks to be joined and before importing. You cannot join tracks that are already imported into your iTunes Library and I have yet to find out whether it is possible to join tracks purchased from the iTunes Store (I suspect it isn't) or any other online source. Not sure how that leaves Pink Floyd fans (Dark Side of the Moon) or fans of The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper album - to name but two.

So the first question is are you trying to join tracks on a CD?

    • if so, the track list must be in the correct order (first to last track) and the tracks must be adjacent.
    • highlight the tracks (you can highlight all tracks on a CD if you wish)
    • click on the Settings button (the gear wheel icon) and select Join CD Tracks. See the screenshots below

In this first screenshot, I have already joined tracks 1 & 2, as well as separately joining tracks 4, 5 6 & 7. I have highlighted (selected) tracks 10, 11 & 12 then clicked on the Settings icon. As you can see, the Join CD Tracks is available, so I can join tracks 10,11 & 12:

Once I have joined the tracks I want, I then click the Import CD button.

In the screenshot below notice that the Join CD Tracks is not available. This is because the selected tracks (numbers 10 & 12) are not adjacent.

Is it possible the Ripped tracks are still in memory anarranged therefore it won't show Join tracks?

No. I have imported more than one CD a second time, with the specific purpose of joining all the tracks that were on side 1 of my old vinyl record as one track, and then joining all the tracks from side 2 as a separate track and I haven't had any issues.

But what do you mean by re-arranging the tracks?

I reinserted the disk and rearranged the tracks in order, but "join Tracks" does'nt reappear.

The default order is by track number, so you should only need to re-arrange the order if you have previously set the Import window to something else. While I was creating the screenshots for my last post to you, I left the Import CD window in the reverse order. Because the view in the screenshot below is in reverse order, even though I select adjacent tracks, the Join CD Tracks option will not appear:

That column (1.) is the CD track number. It must be in strict numerical order, with number 1 at the top of the column. You simply click the column header (in the box the tip of the arrow is in) to set the order by that column. If it's in the wrong order (i.e. reversed as in my screenshot), simply click that column header again to reverse it back to the correct order. The track list must be in that order, no exceptions.

Ah, one more thing that perhaps I didn't make clear; the join tracks option only appears on the menu once you have selected adjacent tracks. In the screenshot below I have one track selected, so the join tracks option is not shown on the menu:

You have to select two or more adjacent tracks, then the option appears on the menu.

It does work. I did it for all the screenshots I prepared for this discussion and I have done it in the past. Here's a screenshot of Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon album in my library:

The joined tracks copy is the way the album appeared on the vinyl version when I bought it.

It doesn't matter what order you think the tracks should be in, the Join CD Tracks option only shows up when the tracks are sorted by the left most column of numbers in ascending order and you select two or more consecutive tracks. The order is that of the physical tracks on the disc, and essentially what you're doing when you join tracks is ignore one or more track boundaries as the album is ripped. You cannot join non-contiguous sections. You can edit track numbers after ripping if you need to change the order slightly.
