It appears that you use iCloud for Messages. iCloud is a synch service and therefore what you see on your iPhone in Messages is what you have on iCloud. The purpose of Messages on iCloud is to ensure that all of your Apple devices are synchronized that are logged on to the same Apple ID. In short, the messages that you see on your iPhone / MacBook etc are what's on iCloud.
