Running first aid can’t be done in recovery

Hello everyone,

Im trying to run first aid on the hard drive on my iMac, but when I go into recovery (cmd + r) and then try to run first aid, it says there are problems found and I have to run it in recovery, even though i’m in recovery already. Any ideas? Thanks

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13
