From Finder, directly send a file with Gmail

From macOSx Finder, I would like to click on a file or folder, hold the click and select Gmail as a service or the application by which to email the file. If i select "Share", i am not given the option to select GMail or add Gmail as an option. I can also selection "Open" and then open that file with "Mail" and the file will be attached in a new Apple "Mail" email.

I see the the third party extension for what appears to be Chrome Mail or Gmail. It is checked off but the checked box is greyed out. It would appear as though I should have Gmail as an option to select when sending a file by email directly from Finder.

Can any one give me some direction on how I may be able to send files directly from Finder via Gmail?.

Thanks.

Eric

Hello MandLoffice,

It sounds like you are wanting to share files from Finder and send them using Gmail. As it turns out, right now, Gmail does not have an app for the Mac. Check out this link to learn more about the Gmail app that is available.

Gmail - Email by Google

You could set up your Gmail account in the Mail app and then choose to send the email using your Gmail. Check out this link to learn how to add your Gmail account to the Mail app on your Mac and set it as the default account. This will ensure when you share a file via Mail, it uses your Gmail account:

Add or remove email accounts in Mail on Mac

Change the default browser or email client on your Mac

Cheers!
