Updated to new system and now my microsoft office won't work

I recently updated my computer to the OS Catalina. Now, my microsoft office suite doesn't work. I tried to go to the apps store to update the office but now it shows I need a new subscription. I already bought the license back when I first bought my computer. I need my word and excel back. How do I do that?

Office 365 and Office 2019 work with Catalina. Your old version of Office will not work.
