Connection lines not working in Pages

Hi,

So I want to connect few shapes with connection lines, but the lines keep ending up in the middle of a page, like a regular one.

I select two shapes and go to Insert > Lines > (straight) connection line

That is what I get:

It works great on Keynote, but not on pages.

Every object that you insert has text wrap set to Automatic in the Arrangement panel. You need to individually, or by selecting all of them at once, change their Text Wrap to None, so they do not repel one another, and your goal of connecting shapes can succeed.

You did not mention that you selected that line shape after insertion, and setting its Text Wrap to None. The Pages shape behavior does not behave like Visio, and Pages will just toss its shapes onto the document where it feels like. It is up to you to manipulate them into position.

You might find the free, 64-bit LibreOffice Draw better suited to building something with its objects, as it also imports all versions of Visio designs, and has better tools for connecting objects. Export as a single-page PDF, and then drop it into Pages as a completed diagram. LibreOffice documentation, including Draw, is here.

I've opened a new document and created three random shapes, then selected all of them and under Arrange panel I've selected Text Wrap as none.

Then selected two of the Shapes and did the usual Insert > Lines > (straight) connection line and the line ended up in the middle as before.

I'm brand new to MacOS, all life worked with Microsoft, so it's a bit unusual to make it work.
