Fortnite on Mac

How come I can’t update Fortnite on my MacBook Pro? Are y’all blocking me from using a program on my Mac? I don’t get the game from the App Store but rather from their website.

just want clarification. Can programs on MacBook be denied access from users because Apple doesn’t like them? Is that why companies don’t make too many games for MacBook? Cause if that’s the case does boot camp allow me to still play Fortnite on my MacBook?

This is because the developer has stopped supporting the game on Apple platforms.

Apple can revoke an installation certificate from any developer. They would only do this if a developer violated the terms of their agreement with Apple. In most cases, this is due to malicious activity. In this case, it is a contract dispute. The developer agreed to Apple's terms and then decided it wanted a better deal. In any case, end users can still override Apple's security protections and install any software they want. In this specific example, the developer sued Apple and did receive an injunction to prevent Apple from upholding the terms of its license agreement. So the installation certificate is not an issue. It is the developer itself that is not providing the latest content to its users.

You could still use Boot Camp to play this game.
