Read Receipts option disappearing for an individual contact

I read an another forum that if you go into the "i" (information) in an iMessage with one of your contacts who also has an iPhone, that if the "read receipts" option is missing, that they have blocked you. I do believe I have been blocked by someone, unfortunately. And following these steps, I did see that "read receipts" toggle was missing and only the "hide alerts" toggle remained. But now, a week later, both options are available for this iPhone using contact. Does that mean I have been unblocked? I have tested this with my daughter's iPhone, and the "read receipts" toggle never disappeared between us the way it did with this particular contact. Can anyone confirm the accuracy of the meaning of this option toggle disappearing and being correlated with being blocked? Then it re-appearing and being unblocked? I have iOS 13.6.1
