New iMac
I stopped the migration assistant as it was taking over 12hrs. Now I just have the startup picture on the new Mac and no icons. I can’t restart the migration as I can’t get to anything. Any ideas?
Have you powered down & tried again?

Power down the computer, then hold the startup button on the back of the computer about 10 seconds and then release. Then restart normally. The BEST method of migrating is to follow these steps:
- Connect the old computers Time Machine backup External Hard Disk using a USB cable to the new computer.
- Launch Migration Assistant on the new computer and follow the on-screen prompts.
Note: NEVER EVER use Wi-Fi to migrate!!!!
If you do not have a Time Machine backu[p of the old computer, then create one! You can use the External Hard Disk for the new computer's Time Machine backup.
