MacBook Air 2020 Intel Core i3

I just recently purchased a MacBook Air 2020 Intel Core i3 under the Education Store since I work with the school district. We do save $159.00 on Mac laptops and iPads. Since I am on the budget and not working due to COVID-19 pandemic, I did not want to spend $100.00 more upgrading to Intel Core i5 since I have upgraded the 1TB storage space. The state tax is $150.00+ depending on where you live. I also own a DELL laptop with Intel Core i5-7th generation. Yes, my DELL laptop does overheat sometimes. I read that the Intel Core i3 is slower than the i5 and i7. I spoke to an Apple Specialist and suggested that the i3 is the best choice for me. This is my first Macbook and the reason I purchased it so that it is easier for me to text people and sent photos to them. It is way too expensive for me to purchase a Macbook Pro if I wanted Intel Core i5 on my laptop. The Apple Specialist said the reason our older laptops start to slow down because of its age and not the storage.

Ok, do you have a question?

If your first priority is to save money you accomplished that by buying the most modestly configured MacBook Air.

That is not true. A Mac's age is completely unrelated to its performance, unless you're discussing a battery that has aged to the point it can no longer deliver the power it once did. That will not happen for years. And if a Mac's storage capacity reaches its limit, it will definitely slow down as macOS resorts to increasingly desperate measures to reclaim the minimum amount of storage it needs to work efficiently.

I think the Apple Specialist misunderstood your question—one I am unable to find in your post.
