How to use a device that being remotely erased

I have logged in my iCloud, using Find My iPhone to remotely erased a device (Macbook Pro) that I'm no longer use. That Macbook has been transferring to another user. Now that person can not use it because it requests passcode. What can we do? Can the passcode sent to my current device work on that laptop too?

Hello rosetruong29,

Thanks for that information. This sounds like the MacBook may be in Lost Mode. Do you recall setting up a passcode when you remotely erased it? If so, you can give that passcode to the new owner. This will allow them to unlock the computer. And since you started the command to erase remotely, all the data will be removed from the MacBook once it connects to the internet.

If you didn't set up a passcode when the computer was erased, the new owner will need to contact Apple Support to look into having the Activation Lock removed. The support team can be reached here: Get Support

We hope this helps you.

Have a great day!

Hi rosetruong29,

Thanks for reaching out to us. We're happy to help you get your old MacBook removed from Find My. Since you no longer have that device, you can find the steps to remove it from your account here:

Remove a device in Find My on Mac

This will remove the MacBook from your iCloud account, and allow the new owner to sign in with their iCloud information.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Take care and be safe.

Hi chuck_3rd,

Thank you for your reply. However I have remotely erasing my old MacBook by mistake. After that I also removed it from my account. The new user told me that the old MacBook has been locked and required passcode. What can I do to allow the new owner freely use my old MacBook? In fact I only wanted to erase my iCloud account in that device. I wonder if all the data I left in my old MacBook for the new owner being erased? If it is the case, can they be restored?
