iPhone 11 pro charging to iMac

connecting iPhone 11 pro to iMac with cable photos open automatically and toggles off and on not charging and to open other window in iMac photos take over toggling off and on

Thank you for posting here in Apple Support Communities. According to what you're reporting, whenever you connect your iPhone to your iMac using a Lightning cable, the Photos app automatically opens, and this also causes your iPhone to stop charging as well. Sound about right? If so, we recommend that you check out the following resources.


If your iPhone or iPod touch won't charge - Please be sure to check out the "Plug into power" section before moving forward with any of the troubleshooting steps.


Import photos from a camera or phone using Photos on Mac - This is an excellent resource to reference when importing photos onto your iMac. To disable Photos from automatically opening when your iPhone is connected, click on your iPhone in the side bar > uncheck "Open Photos for this device".
