Mac frozen on update.
My Mac has been frozen for hours. Restart just brings it back to this screen. I didn’t initialise any update. The computer did that itself at 3 in the morning. What do I do now? Help!

If your Mac freezes up on an update, follow these steps and guidance from Apple. If, after following that, you don't see relief, you might consider trying to update via the combo 10.15.6 updater, which I have found solves a lot fo problems with incremental updates over time that may not reveal themselves immediately.
