I deleted my aol email then added again to my iPhone and in the process lost many notes in my aol mail account
what do I need to do to recover

It sounds like you are missing notes after removing your AOL account and adding it back. We can help with this.
Are you still able to see your notes on the AOL website? If so, do you have Notes enabled for your AOL account in the Settings on your iPhone? You can check by going to Settings > Passwords & Accounts then tapping your AOL account and checking to see that Notes is enabled.
If you are not able to see your notes on the AOL website, do you know if your notes might have been syncing with another account besides your AOL email? If so, do you still have Notes enabled for that account? You can use the same steps listed above to check any email account that is currently signed into your iPhone.
