Textbooks on iPad Pro?

I recently bought an iPad Pro + Apple Pencil and was thinking about using it for my nursing school textbooks this year. However I often highlight or write in my books when reading. Does anyone have any suggestions for apps to let me us my iPad like this? My textbooks are pdf files if that makes a difference. Thank you in advanced!
