Hello. I cannot back-up my son's phone as his name is greyed out in the Settings (I therefore cannot access the icloud area to do the back-up). I assume it's greyed out due to our Family Sharing, but I haven't found a way on my own device to do the back-up somehow on his behalf.
Can someone help me know how to do this?

It's not clear... can he access the backup option on his phone? You say "I" not "him".
You will never be able to "back up on his behalf"
Backups are the responsibility of the device user.
Are there restrictions on his device?
