How does Spotify auto-launch? Can't get it to stop

This criminal app auto-launches when I login and it does so in some weird surreptitious way. It isn't in the Login Items. It isn't a LaunchAgent. And no, turning off the option in the Advanced Settings doesn't help.

Any ideas?

Apps can create "modern" login items that will register the login item from within the app bundle.

Apps that are distributed through the App Store must provide a method to disable the startup item.

Apps that do not go through the App Store are allowed to screw you however they like.

If you downloaded Spotify from the App Store, check the preferences or menus. If you didn't, you can also try to find a method within the app.

As already noted, if you don't like their behavior, uninstall it.
