How to fix a stuck ipod

My daughter's iPod Touch is stuck on a white screen with a black apple symbol. I have done a hard shut down and it continues to come back to this same place. How can I fix this?

I would recommend completing a restore or restart on the iPod. Here is a video I found that should help
