Airport Extreme reset & Firmware update?

I have a Airport Extreme bought in 2010, I'm trying to reset it completely to use a different username and password, but before i can do a HARD RESET, on the apple support its telling me to update the firmware first, but none of what it suggests is even seen on my Airport Extreme utility. Please advise to check if I need to update my firmware and how?
