Apple Watch: Walking Distance Accuracy

Hi

How accurate is the outdoor walking distance measured by an Apple Watch?

we have two apple watches ... a series 2 with my wife and a newer series 3 with me.....

we both go on walks together .... surprisingly I have noticed that my series 3 watch records almost 10 % more distance than the series 2 watch.....

why should that be.... can the calibration be checked ?

Am curious...

You should also make sure your watch is calibrated:

A lot may depend on the GPS accuracy of your devices. Do you both have your iPhones with you?

Workout map route colors explanations:

Yellow is the average pace.

Green is the fastest pace.

Red and orange are the slowest paces.

All sections are based on averages for that section and length of time to complete.

If there are grey dots on the route this is a weak or non existent GPS signal.

The dots are where the watch is filling in the gaps.
