Amazon's Apple Care+ 2-year plan vs. monthly plan from Apple

I'm trying to buy a iPad 7th Generation on amazon. It comes with a 2-year Apple Care+ plan, paid at once for $70.

On Apple's website, the Apple Care+ is monthly at $3.49 so it's about $84 for two years. Other than the cost, does Apple's plan go on "perpetually" so that you can get covered beyond two years but Amazon's won't?

Thanks!

To address your question, yes the monthly option goes on past 2 years if you keep paying for it.

You can also buy the $69 single payment version directly at Apple if you want to. Whether you buy it from Apple directly or Amazon, you can convert it to a monthly option once it expires at the 2 year mark.

Can I switch to a monthly plan?

If you paid upfront, you can switch to a monthly plan when the 24 or 36 month period is over.

If you are not buying from this specific site on Amazon, DON'T BUY your iPad there. You can buy iPad 7 from sellers there, but unless it's from the Apple Store directly, they are NOT authorized resellers. Be VERY careful. If it were me personally, I'd buy it from Apple, pay the difference in cost for AppleCare+ and know I'm not putting myself in jeopardy.

You didn't understand what I posted. Amazon is NOT an authorized Apple reseller. I provided a link to the Apple Store on Amazon. If you don't buy from Apple directly, you're putting yourself at risk. Your money and your choice. But why put yourself at risk. Buy it from Apple directly. Which you can on Amazon, only you need to buy it on the Apple Store link I provided you.

Oh now I see. Although I originally didn't use your link to add the iPad, it seemed to lead to the same listing that I used to put the iPad into my cart. Both will say "sold by Amazon.com" but from your link I know for sure it originates from the Apple Store and I will always go to that store front first from now on. Thank you so much for the details!

I also found more details on the AppleCare+ plan. It's possible to pay upfront for 2 years coverage and continue with monthly plan after. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210580

I'm glad you got to the right place. I should have addressed your AppleCare+ question, but was concerned you may be buying from an unauthorized seller, so stayed on that topic.

Yes, you can extend AppleCare+ after the two years. I wrote a User Tip about AppleCare+. Read this if you'd like to learn more --> Demystifying AppleCare+ And How It Ma… - Apple Community
