iPhone email protocol
How can I see (or can't I?) what protocol an email client on my iPhone is already setup for?
iPhone SE, iOS 13
Apple Intelligence is now available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac!

You’re welcome; keep well.
You might want to consider using the gmail app, which has a better interface than the built in Apple mail app. And it supports Push. Google supported Push with the Apple app at one time, but they dropped it when they released their own mail app.

Go to Settings/Passwords & Accounts. Tap on an account and it will tell you at the top what kind of account it is. It will say Exchange, IMAP or POP, or the name of the provider for anything else. Things like gmail, yahoo, etc are their own protocol that is IMAP based, but not exactly IMAP.
good advise-I'm still using the Apple supplied app because, basically, I'm severely lazy and really for no other reason! I"ve often thought about using another client but I've been held back by my lazy !@@
I'm already there and I don't se anything denoting what protocol it is. If it makes a difference this iOS v13.6.1
sorry- I see it for one account-RR- but not for my gmail account . Is it a Google vs Apple thing?
Gmail is a modified IMAP protocol, unless you have the paid enterprise version, which is MS Exchange.
ok thanks for the info M. Finch
