Screentime and Timezones

My kids and I are in different timezones for a while. It's not immediately obvious who's timezones the downtime and usage numbers are reported or set in. It looks like the usages are in my timezone which is inconvenient but it's not obvious. This seems to be a general problem with apple and google software including the old parental controls.

Greetings julianel,

Thanks for reaching out to us. We're happy to look into this trouble you're having with Screen Time and the different time zones. Screen Time reports the data based on the date and time that the devices are set to. You will want to make sure that all the devices are set to update the time zone automatically. Get to steps to check, and adjust if needed here:

Set the date and time on iPhone

We hope this helps you. Feel free to reach back out if you have any questions.

Cheers!

Hello julianel,

That's a great question. All the data displayed on each device is specific to the date and time settings on the device itself. So if you are seeing downtime data on a device not in your time zone, you are seeing that data per your settings. The same goes for setting downtime, as you will see the time based on your device settings. You will need to make the Screen Time adjustments based on where you are, and relative to where your kids are. And the logs from other devices will show in your time.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Take care and be safe.
