Apple TV and Xfinity
If we have a Sony smart TV with xfinity as our cable/internet provider, do we need an Apple TV box? Apparently xfinity does not support Apple TV app yet.

Xfinity doesn’t currently have an Apple TV app for their services. You will have to use their cable box instead to watch their services.
You may still want an Apple TV box for other (streaming) services. E.g. –
- iTunes Store movies and TV shows (buy or rent);
- Apple TV+ channel featuring Apple Originals, by subscription;
- other premium Apple TV app Channels, each by subscription.
- Apple Home Sharing movies, tv shows, music, photos, home videos, podcasts, audiobooks
- AirPlay
- A choice from 12,000+ apps from the tvOS App Store, including streaming services that may not (yet) be available on some other platforms
- Integration of some of these streaming services apps into the Apple TV app
- Apple Music on TV
- Photos from iCloud
