My new Apple Mac crashes when I plug headphones in

I have a new MacBook Pro and I have plugged headphone in to it on three occassions. On each occassion the computer has shut down. On retart, Google Chrome also appears to have crashed and needs to be "verified" before it will reopen. Has anyone experienced this problem and do you know how it can be resolved?

Let's isolate the issue.


Is it occurring only while the Google Chrome app is running? Or Irrespective of any app running?

Check if your Mac restarts on plugging in headphone without running any apps?


Also please check if this happens with other headphones / headset?
