my imac 2020 has problem sometimes showing half screen spit horizontally with different color temperature. I am not sure its about ture tone display bugs.

Are you guys by any chance using TorGuard VPN when this happens?

I can conclude that it is almost certain in my case, that it is this very unlikely App, which is causing my specific glitch i.e. whilst watching Netflix Dolby Vision HDR media via Safari, the image will initially flicker and then the complete screen is duplicated into two separate halves, each showing a mirror image of the same. I haven’t tested for the split two-tone screen as of yet but I will keep a look out as this mainly happens while shutting down the Mac.

I came to this conclusion whilst watching the exact same media/series on the Austrian Netflix (my home Netflix) and the glitch didn’t appear, what ever I done I could not replicate it until I switched TorGuard on and played the same episodes, also different productions, on the USA Netflix site. I then carefully made sure that they were both using Dolby Vision according to the titles info text. Last test was with TorGuard set to Austria, where it was running glitch free without and bingo the glitch was back. Turned TorGuard off, the glitch was gone.

Please let me know if you’re also using a VPN, especially TorGuard.

(my specs are Safari 14.0.3 on my 20.1 27“ iMac 3.3 GHZ/Pro 5300 graphic card, 40 GB)

Just bought a 27" iMac 2020 i7 2 weeks ago and had this happen today - was able to get the TrueTone to return to normal after turning off/on. But rather disappointing to see such a glitch on a brand new machine. Hopefully Apple fixes this bug in an update soon.

GiacomoSol, have you tried switching resolutions to see if that also clears the issue?

Yep, that's exactly what is happening with my 2020 iMac 27 inch. At first I was a bit freaked out, but now I've just come to enjoy it when it pops up. The other other thing I'd add is that it tends to happen when switching users and goes away when resetting the display settings or randomly with a screen flicker.

Does it happen just graphically and static with your mac or does it also split the finder into two live windows as well (see my two videos in this posting). This glitch only happens when playing Netflix HDR Dolby vision content in safari but the static, graphical splitting of the screen happens sometimes as well when I shut down.

Got exactly the same issue on my 27" iMac 2020 purchased a couple of weeks ago :(

I’m seeing the exact same thing when rebooting/shutting down my iMac 27 2020. Half the screen (vertical) has a different color than the rest.

Are there any updates I have the latest 27 inch iMac and as a designer this is becoming a serious issue. Toggling true tone on and off is not working any more
