Recovering data from macbook pro 2020

Recently my macbook pro 2020 13 inch died, it refuses to turn on, so i cant even put it in recovery mode to save the files, is there anyway i can rescue the data before mailing it in for repair? Ive been told if i mail it in the will just wipe all the data off the laptop.

symptoms: excessive over heat before death, only 2 weeks since ive owned it, now when i turn it on, the fans will periodically force out air like pshhh sound every few minutes, display, cap lock keys dont light up but when i plug in charger there is a power chime. If i leave it off for the night ill come back to it in the morning being extremely hot to the touch.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

There is no way to know until you try it. Target Disk Mode doesn't require very much in order to work so there is a good chance it will work, but there is no guarantee. If you put the laptop into Target Disk Mode do you see the floating icons on the screen for Thunderbot & USB (it can still work if there is no video, but seeing this would give you more hope)?

If you do this, then you can also try to "revive" or even "restore" the T2 firmware:

The problem is the time between the back up and the catastrophe is usually where the unbacked up files are, theres no way to predict a catastrophe

Then you need to backup more frequently.

If you take the laptop to an Apple Authorized Service Provider they may be able to attempt data recovery if the laptop can be put into a DFU mode and use a special service provider utility to attempt to recover data from the SSD. I'm not sure an Apple Store will do this.

Otherwise you can take the laptop to an Apple Store or an AASP and tell them you would like to have the data recovered. They should be able to send the Logic Board to a professional data recovery service such as Drive Savers or Ontrack. This is the only option if the laptop cannot even work with DFU mode or if neither the Apple Store or AASP will attempt pulling data from the Logic Board's SSD.

Is it possible for me to use target disk mode mac to mac to access the data on this faulted mac? Im debating if i should purchase another macbook pro to salvage the data on this broken one and then have it shipped to repair and returned.

the problem is the fans do spin and when i plug in the charger it makes a power chime, and if i plug in my phone it charges, so there is power going to the ports, but other than that there are no signs of life, screen is off, touch bar is off, cap lock key is off, just a periodic spinning of the fan and i do get charge when i plug in my iphone.
