video importing to My Media as photo

When I import a 90 second video clip from my iPhotos library into my iMovie Project via the "My Media" box, the video clip is showing up as 4 second photo. And this is happening--why?

Hi, BrandiJo18,

When you place your videos in the Photos app and then access them from within iMovie via the Photos sidebar item, the video should import as a video and not a photo. If you are doing it that way and getting a photo instead of a video, then try deleting preferences.

To delete preferences open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Now see if you can import the video.
