Audio sync issues when using external monitor

Hi - I'm editing a short film using iMovie with the help of an external monitor.

Everything looks fine until I either export the file, or just use my laptop screen.

Use of the monitor seems to result in a slight audio lag which means I have to resync everything on the laptop before exporting.

This is a brand new Macbook pro and monitor, so I'm surprised by this fault. Any tips on what to do here?

Thanks.

I was thinking about blue tooth speakers. Other than airplay connection to an iPad as an external monitor I’m not aware of blue tooth external monitor connection to a Mac.

In any event, try using the free download Handbrake to convert the video to Mp4/AAC, even if it is already that. Sometimes re-encoding clears up sync problems.

You can get Handbrake here:

https://handbrake.fr/

A simple way to do it is to export your video to your desktop and then

open Handbrake and do a File/Open Source.

Navigate to your video and choose it as the source from the resulting screen.

Then do File/Start Encoding. Wait a couple of minutes for the conversion to

complete. Then save and see if it will play without the audio lag.
