Year of manufacture or year model came out

What year should be displayed in the information window when you click on the ‘Apple logo’ and then click ‘about’ on a MacBook Pro 2020.

I wanted to buy the MacBook Pro 2020 today from Curry’s and when I clicked on ‘about ‘, it said 2019. When I asked the sales person why doesn’t it say 2020, I was told that it was manufactured in 2019 but it is the latest 2020 model and all macs 2020 will show 2019.

is this correct??
