Keyboard (some) keys not working

Dear Community,

Some of my keyboard keys are not working - specifically j, k, l. On advice found here, I plugged in an external keyboard to test it, and they work fine on that keyboard! So.... does that mean a software update? If so - which one? or? Totally appreciate a 'next step', please? TIA!!

Actually that means this can be an hardware issue. You can try the following two steps, one at a time, however if that does not help then I recommend that you have your MacBook Air examined at the Apple Store or at an Apple Authorized Service Center.

  1. Reset SMC by following the directions applicable to your MacBook here ➔ How to Reset SMC. If that does not solve things then-
  2. Reset NVRAM/PRAM by following the directions applicable to your MacBook here ➔ How to Reset NVRAM/PRAM.
