Where is AQI sourced from in Apple weather app?

I see a discrepancy in my weather app and the weather channel page in safari and am not sure what the source of truth is. I'm aware different sensors provide differently levels of accuracy, reliability, etc. I just want to know what feed apple uses.

The Apple Weather App on my 13 mini (iOS 16.5.1) shows temps for this weekend (Aug 25, 26, 27, 28, 2023) to be 5 degrees cooler than the WeatherChannel App. That is a significant difference. Why?? What to believe? I’m going to Sierra City, Ca for a weekend. Apple Weather app shows 5 degrees cooler for the next 10 days. What’s up with that?

User reported local weather Dark Sky allowed users to report the weather where they were, allowing them to leverage more accurate data, I always found this very helpful, and it provided great local forecasts, is this something Apple is planning on implementing?

Google says that the source for the Apple weather app is the Weather Channel.
